COUGHRAN--Seeking info on the families of William COUGHRAN,
born 1847/WI, who married Jeanette/Jennie HEIMANN, born 1870/Germany, who
married in 1893/Phoenix, Maricopa Co. They had two children in Maricopa:
Alma and Samuel James COUGHRAN.
Believe the father of William COUGHRAN was James
COUGHRAN and the mother was Mary CRONKHITE. The son, William, and the
father, James, came out to AZ before 1880. William worked on Stage
Lines between AZ and San Bernardino CA. The father was a miner. It
is not clear if the mother came out from WI or not.
William and Jeanette removed to SO CAL by 1904
where they remained until their deaths in the late 1920s. Believe James
COUGHRAN died shortly after the census of 1900 when he showed as an 80 year old
widower in Maricopa Co.
William may have had a sister, M. Lena COUGHRAN,
who married John Marion SEARS, born ca 1864/TX, son of Elijah SEARS and ?, in
1892/Tempe, Maricopa Co. I find the SEARS family in the census of 1880
Maricopa, with John Marion Sears Jr. as a 16 year old in the household of his
Uncle John Marion SEARS, along with his widowed father, Ely/Elijah SEARS and
siblings. By 1900 Ely SEARS had remarried to Julia Unknown and show
in the census of Pinal Co.
Cannot locate Lena and John SEARS in the census
of AZ or CA for 1900; where did they go?
