ZIMMERMAN, Robert "Bob"
Robert "Bob" Zimmerman, age 83, Of Mesa, Arizona, LT/COL. USAF (30 Years Service /Retired) Born in Kansas City Missouri, died on October 24th. Bob held a BS in Engineering and an MBA in Public Administration both with ASU. He was a Jet Pilot in the 57th Fighter Group 65th squadron (Alaska). He served his country honorably during WW II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He remained a strong veteran's advocate serving as Chairman and Coordinator on many committees, such as Coordinator for the Veterans Booth at the State Fair since inception. Bob was a Life member of many major veteran's organizations, a few are: DAV Dept Commander and VFW Post Commander. He was also a competitive and accomplished athlete in racquetball and badminton. Survivors include sons Robert L. Jr., (Donna), Rodney V., and Craig A. (Marla) 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and his great dog Joey. Bob was a devoted father, grandfather and friend and will be missed. Visitation and services at Melcher's Chapel of the Roses, 43 S. Stapley Drive, Mesa, AZ. Interment City of Mesa Cemetery. ZUGAY, Eric J. ~ April 20, 1971 - July 30, 2006
Elma native Eric J. Zugay, an environmental engineer, died July 30 in a Phoenix hospital after a long bout with cancer. He was 35.
Mr. Zugay moved to Phoenix at age 11. He earned a bachelor's degree in geology and a master's degree in hydrology at Arizona State University, where he was also pursuing a civil engineering degree.
Mr. Zugay worked as an environmental engineer at Basin and Range in Phoenix for 15 years.
Survivors include his father, James, and a brother, Brian.
A memorial service was held in Phoenix.

Eric J. Zugay, 35, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Arizona State University (1992), a Masters of Science degree in Hydrology from the University of Arizona (1995) and was actively pursuing a civil engineering degree while working as an environmental engineer. His passion for education in engineering came first. When cancer engulfed Eric's life, he then redirected his life goals to find a cure for his cancer, knowing his time was short. He was an avid hiker and bicyclist. Survivors include his father James ZUGAY, brother Brian ZUGAY, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother Diana Lucille. Memorial Mass was Friday, August 4th, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 E. Thomas Rd. The (Phoenix) Arizona Republic, August 3, 2006
